NORTHERN VICTORIAN WHEAT COUNTRY RAIN POTENTIAL OUTLOOK

UPDATED 6/05/2008

DISCUSSION: A belt of high pressure remains a dominating influence across inland southeast Australia although a weak trough passes across northeast Victoria Tuesday morning, unfortunately for the northern plains atmospheric lifting potential remains limited with little prospect for general rains this week. A serries of weakish frosts will pass across Victoria this week mainly affecting southern and highland areas. The high pressure system moves into Victoria this weekend then east of the state by next Sunday with the next trough appearing early next week with showers....

This week a few showers getting onto the northern plains later Tuesday mainly southern areas then a freshening southwest airstream with isolated showers a risk over the far southern areas to at least Thursday, mainly dry northern areas of the plains area, expect increasingly colder nights through the week and the weekend with a few frosts in sheltered areas especially later in the week.....
