Surface Streamlines

The surface streamline pattern over Central Victoria appears complex with an area of convergence just west of Melbourne, which conforms with the position of the surface trough at this time.

925hPa Streamlines

Streamlines at 925hPa showed marked convergence near the Paraparap area. A confluent pattern is apparent from the West Central District and across Melbourne.

A weak convergent pattern is discernible on the 850hpa over the west central district of Victoria. (Fig11a) The pattern at 700hpa appears slightly divergent (Fig 11b) . At 500hpa and 300hpa (Fig 11c & 11d) a split flow pattern is apparent over eastern Victoria and speed shear is rather weak.
