Selected radar image sof the storm - taken at 1520hrs 2 Dec 2003, just prior to the storm hitting Lilydale

The RHI interpolated image is straight through the storm and clearly indicates significant overhang, which is indicative of thunderstorm organisation and a huge updraft. This image also shows 50dBZ+ returns to 10km.

(LH) - the PPI interpolated image is at 1.2 degrees elevation from Laverton radar and has had some of the clutter and lower reflectivity returns removed.
(RH) - the CAPPI interpolated image is a horizontal slice at 14000ft through the atmosphere (note the mesocyclone!)
