This morning started off fairly
non event with just a light shower of 0.6mm. The sky darkened around 10am with some heavy
showers, one after the other, passing just south of here. (Rutherglen, NE Victoria). About
midday the sky decided to open and let us have it with some heavy rainfall and pea sized
hail. Within 10 to 15 minutes everything was white and understandably the temperature
dropped considerably, as you could feel the cold coming from the ice on the ground. The
hail was still on the ground at 5pm where it was sheltered. I looked in awe as the
hail/rain made its way underneath the door of the garage where I work and spread like lava
onto the workshop floor. After the "dry" we've had, it was one of the most
welcome signs we've seen for some time. The bloke that's building a new shop just up the
street wont be too happy though as all the soil that was placed in his new foundations
found its way into the main street gutters :-(
I received 26.4mm
here but some places around town received more and some less by considerable amounts.
Maybe some had their sprinklers on?
I know one thing
though, the sky was as black as the inside of a cow. Anyone like to challenge on that one?
Grin. What a grouse day....
